WINTER SKINCARE GUIDE, GREEN BEAUTY TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM THE ELEMENTS

January 1, 2018

HAPPY 2018 loves!! THE WINTER SKINCARE GUIDE IS HERE!!

Aweeeeee I don’t know about you but I always get so excited for the fresh start of a new year! It’s the perfect time to reflect and think about many blessings you received in the previous year and how you want to build on what you’ve learned to make the next year that much better! This blog has gone through some changes in the last year, all directed by feedback from you! I’ve been slowly making the transition away from sharing about restaurants/recipes and honing in on green beauty and holistic skincare. My background in aesthetic nursing, home fermenting, and adopting a non toxic beauty lifestyle has given me the tools to help you on your journey to your best skin! I’m kicking off the new year with a seasonal skincare guide to help you navigate how the changing climate is effecting your skin. It’s january and the majority of the northern hemisphere is experiencing dry conditions that strip the moisture from skin, leaving it dry and chapped. My four tried and trusted green beauty picks for this winter season will hydrate your skin without clogging pores or creating breakouts.

WINTER SKINCARE GUIDE

Step 1) Cocokind Organic Chlorophyll Face Mask: My new favorite clarifying mask, I suggest using it at least once a week to gently purify skin and prevent clogged pores. It has Chlorella, spirulina, and wheatgrass, all the detoxifying greens to brighten your skin. I also love that it has a mild tightening effect on my skin.

Step 2) Osea Ocean Milk Cleanser: My all time favorite creamy cleanser, I use it everyday! It cleans skin without stripping it, then hydrates with Patagonian alge, it’s the perfect winter cleanser for all skin types.

Step 3) Cocokind Organic Rosewater Facial Toner: A luxurious hydrating toner for under $20! I’ve been using this toner multiple times a day, it is soooooo refreshing. I love using it before I put on moisturizer and mid day if my skin feels dry. The organic rose water softens and soothes skin, while also reducing dryness and leaving skin refreshed.

Step 4) January Labs Retexturizing Night Cream: OMG this moisturizer! I can’t sing its praises enough! This stuff makes my skin glow! This moisturizer is pure magic because it contains a high level of lactic acid and fruit extracts that naturally exfoliate skin to prevent breakouts, cleans pores, and slough off dead skin. It also contains
hyaluronic acid to strengthen skin elasticity, plump skin, and deeply hydrate during dry winter months.

I can’t wait for you loves to try this amazing winter skincare regime to have your best winter skin of life!!! Feel free to comment on this post with any questions! Xoxoxo happy new year.

What foods or vitamins have you noticed a change in your skin. Also do you have any tips for a more plump face and reducing dark circles!

  2. Maureen says:

Hi Celeste! I love you! My question is: How much exfoliation is too much exfoliation? My forehead gets so flaky in the winter, and I do everything to combat it but sometimes I feel like I literally need to scrub off the top layer of my skin to get it to go away!! HELP! Thank you!! xoxo

  3. Clara says:

What do you do to reduce redness? That’s always a huge problem for me especially during winter. Thanks!! <3

  4. Molly says:

Your skin is so beautiful with hardly any redness. Can you credit the rosewater facial toner to this or is it just good genes? If not Rosewater, is there a product you recommend for redness (acne scars, broken capillaries, etc).
    Thank you!

  5. Rachel Miller says:

Are there any specific products you reccomend for someone with both very dry and easily congested skin?

  6. SC says:

Thank you for posting this! It is VERY cold where I am now, so I’m excited to try some of these 🙂
One question for you-what daytime moisturizer do you use? I am looking to try a new, natural one with SPF and am curious about your go-to.

    Thanks!

  7. Ally J. says:

I often struggle with oil imbalance on my face and often feel like I have to target the more oily areas with different products than the rest to avoid irritation. What would be your approach to this matter? Thank you!

  8. Emma says:

I would love to hear any suggestions you have for getting rid of or diminishing acne scars. Thank you!

  9. Erin says:

All these products look amazing! I wanted to know if you use a humidifier at night. If so which one and do you use purified water or just fill it up from the tap?

  10. Vanessa says:

What would you recommend to reduce pore size and scarring? Xoxo

  11. Kaylin says:

Hi Celeste! I am really glad you posted this because I am in need of skin tips for the cold weather. My question for you is do you have any tips on helping prevent cystic acne? That has always been one of my constant stuggles leaving acne scars all around my face. Also, I was wondering if there are any certain foods/vitamins you would recommend to keep a blemish free and glowing face? Thank you!!

  12. Brittany says:

You are so stunning!! What is your take on exfoliation? I feel like I have a love hate relationship. J worry it is bad for my skin but I also feel like it gets rid of these awful little bumps I get on my skin.

  13. Kirsten Mcne says:

I’m so interested in trying the Cocokind products, I’ve been seeing them everywhere! Do you use facial oils and if so, do you have one that helps with brightening and gives you a glowy look? Thanks so much 🙂

  14. Diana Cote says:

These look great and I’ve read great things about these brands, do you have any recommendations for blackheads or clogged pores and sensitive skin? Thanks!

  15. Heather S. says:

These products look awesome. Can’t wait to try the mask! My question for you is this: Do you have a recommendation for natural products that work on pigmentation? I’ve been fighting melasma for a few years and want something more natural.

  16. Nataly says:

Thank you for the chance to win!
My question: is it better to use micellar water followed by toner instead of using conventional cleanser and tap water? I’ve heard it’s better because doesn’t dry out skin as much. What’s your thoughts on this? Thank you!

  17. Isabel says:

Hola Celeste! Your such an inspiration. Thank you for all you do. I have bought a few things you recommended like the suntegrity shimmer and coola sunscreen. Absolutely love! My question is what do you think about hydrafacials especially with someone with sensitive skin? I’ve been thinking about getting this done but I’m a littler nervous because I don’t know how my skin will react. Any Pros and cons? Recommendations? Thoughts?

    • Awe thanks love!!!! I’ve had one before and I think they’re great:) just make sure you’re going to the best quality spa to get it and make sure they’re using natural skincare post treatment to hydrate

  18. This is awesome, Celeste! Can you use the January Labs Retexturizing Night Cream during the day or is it too heavy?

  19. Hope says:

  20. Brittany says:

I have been wanting to try almost all of these products for awhile now so I’m so happy to see you give them your stamp of approval! My question is if you have any recommendations for a moisturizing mask? I love the idea of a clarifying mask but my skin is so dry in the winter so I’m looking for something moisturizing as well. Thanks!!

  21. Haley says:

Love how you greet us on your insta stories! My question is if you could only have one skin care product for the rest of your life which would you choose and why? (That may be a challenge so maybe pick too 3?) 😘

Thanks for sharing! I’m always looking for new slincare tips. What do you mix the coconind mask with? Just water, or do you use honey or acv? Also, have you gotten into jade rolling? Seriously feels amazing after applying oil & the benefits are instant!

  24. Tina says:

I wanted to know if you can apply Rosen Julio directly to your skin or should you mix it with a moisturizer? Also how many times a week should we be exfoliating our skin since the weather is so dry? Thanks

  25. Elly says:

    Hi love!!!
Loving all your skincare tips. My question is, how do you unclog clogged pores? They drive me up the wall around my nose, forehead and chin. Can’t wait for your live!!!

  26. Ilana says:

Is the night cream effective if used once or twice a week? Generally I prefer not to use exfoliantz nightly because my skin gets too Sensitive. Also I love the Osea line and was wondering if you have tried the hylaronic serum?

This is super exciting! In the East Coast & whenever I travel my skin always gets super dry, thank you for your endless tips & tricks. I was wondering how do you combat redness under eyes/top of the cheeks, & blackheads that don’t seem to go away even after exfoliating? (: Xoxo

  33. Cristen says:

Hi!! Is the moisturizer okay to use on combination skin? Dry/oily?

  34. Kirstyn says:

What are the best products to get rid of blackheads??!? Also, any recommendations to even skin tone would be appreciated! I tend to have dry skin if I don’t apply lotion, but then have oily areas because of lotion.

  35. Gretchen says:

Great guide! I too wonder how to prevent cystic acne. And blackheads. With the humidity fluctuation we get in winter, I feel like I can’t keep my skin clear.

  36. Leslie says:

Do you use anything for eye puffiness? If so, what do you use?

  37. Ashley b. says:

This regime sounds amazing ! I struggle with oily skin yet, I develop small dry patches around my eyes and nose .I’ve been battling this for the past 4 years now. Any suggestions on what I should be using to help calm this but, won’t cause me to become more oily? The coco kind face mask sounds perfect but I’m scared of making the dry spot worse. Thank you thank you! 💕✨

  38. Bri says:

When did you get into skincare? would you say it’s your passion

  39. Mary Cate says:

I would love to know if you plan on using an acid toner in your skincare routine. I love January Labs Daily Brightening Tonic, it’s so gentle, yet effective.

  40. Devon says:

Hi! My question is – is coconut oil safe on the face? Cocokind seems great but I have oily and acne prone skin. I’m confused because one article will say not to use oil on the face and then another will say it’s safe! Is it too risky with my skin? How should I spot test? Thanks!

  41. Bella Hamad says:

My skin is always extreamly dry except my nose and chin. I need help finding a winter moisturizer that I can use to help my super dry skin but won’t add more oil to my nose and chin. As well as a cleanser that’s not too harsh to my dry skin but cleanses enough for my nose and chin /:

  42. Emily says:

What was the first step you took towards changing your skin? It’s a little difficult to overhaul your entire life at once so what is the most important thing you would recommend changing first?

  43. Karen says:

Do you use a face roller? I’m so curious about them and it seems to fit with your skincare ideals.

How do you feel about essential oils in skincare? So much heat on this subject right now.

  45. Shannon says:

  48. Holly says:

Do you wait until 1 product completely dry before applying the next?

  49. Kate Sagers says:

This looks perfect for my dry and easily congested skin! For the cream, do you use it all the time? I always get worried about over exfoliation.

  50. Hailee H says:

Hi Celeste! I am so happy I found your blog and Instagram on my journey to holistic health and beautiful skin! I have two questions: first, do you also complete your skin care routine in the evening or do you wash/cleanse two times a day? My second question is do you feel like the Osea cleanser washes off makeup? I currently use a foundation by Sappho Organics and I’ve been looking for a face wash that isn’t stripping! I bought the Sea Vitamin boost per your recommendation in the fall and truly enjoy it so I am interested in incorporating more of the Osea product line into my routine! Thank you!

    • Hey love!!! So happy your loving the tips:)) this is more of a nighttime routine and I only use cleanser at night. In the am i just wash with water and complete steps 3 and 4 plus spf:)

  51. Is there anything winter-specific you use to prep your skin before makeup?

  53. Alexandria Milano says:

Hi. I had recentlyread about Toner to help with dry skin after years of hearing that its only good for oily skin. After reading that you add moisturizer right after is going to make me try it. So thank you for that. 🙂
I also agree that a Creamy Cleanser is so much better for dry or winter dry skin.
Question. How do you feel about Tinted Moisturizer? Used it once the other day and it seemed to do what it was supposed to. Moisturizer and Color all in 1!
    Thank you! 🙂

  54. Lucy Frey says:
