Spoiler alert, I went brunette! If you don’t follow me on social, you may not know that I drastically changed my hair color from bleached blonde to rich brown. In this time or tumultuous hair treatments I wanted to FINALLY discuss my natural hair care regime.

My hair care routine is definitely in the top 5 most requested posts. I think I’ve avoided this topic for so long because, to be honest, I’ve never loved my hair. My hair has always been thin, bleached, and damaged. I’ve been testing hair products in the nontoxic space for a long time and I’ve never found anything truly worth writing about, until now.

I discovered Aquis, a unique haircare system through my favorite influencer, GP (Gwyneth Paltrow). This system is developed to defend the air against hydral fatigue and the necessity for extended heat. This system has seriously changed my hair, it looks sooooo much healthier! My new strong glossy locks have been the cause for many a compliment and I had to share the deets!

I had to dive a little deeper into the system because I’m the kind of girl who needs a full physiological breakdown before I will actually change a habit.

Yes, WATER damages hair!

Hair strands, made of keratin, have an innie and an outie- on the inside, is the cortex. On the outside, are the cuticles – which protect the fragility of the cortex from water, heat, and environmental stressors. When keratin absorbs water, it causes hair to stretch and swell putting it at risk for damage, also known as Hygral Fatigue. Prime Water Defense Prewash Spray, packed with amino acids, keeps strands from getting waterlogged and protects from the inside out.

Yes, HEAT damages hair!

Blow drying causes a “flash drying” effect that not only removes the surface moisture but also removes water that is bound to the hair, which is called water of hydration. The effect of this flash drying is that the cuticles become dry, rigid and brittle. The Rapid Dry Hair Turbans wick away moisture 50% faster than regular towels, reducing the need for excessive heat treatment.

How to:

  1. I saturate my hair with the water defense pre-wash spray to protect my hair from hydral fatigue and avoid getting my hair wet until the very end of my shower.
  2. I use a quarter size amount (I have shoulder length hair) of the rebalancing hair wash in the shower. Massaging and working it into my hair for about a minute. I then immediately rinse my hair clean and gently ring out the excess water.
  3. Post shower I put on the rapid-dry hair turban for about twenty minutes while I make my morning mushroom coffee.
  4. Lastly I spray in the Restorative leave in conditioner, concentrating on the dry ends of my hair.

My washing schedule:

I was my hair 1-2 times a week, max. The Aquis prime system makes my hair healthier and stronger than ever but washing hair more than 1-2 times a week is excessive and will strip your natural oils.

You can get the 4-piece starter kit I use to keep my color treated hair healthy in select Sephora stores or online here

I really like your suggestion, but I’m having oily scalp & if I use shampoo then it causes dandruff. So, do you have any suggestion for this?
