The True Spoon Eats: Cafe Birdie

October 29, 2016

imageHighland park is the new epicenter of cool, so it’s no surprise that the most aesthetically perfect restaurant in Los Angeles has opened its doors on Figueroa Ave. Cafe Birdie is a neighborhood bistro that packs a major design punch. No one can deny the design appeal of Birdie’s marble bar, copper tables, weathered brick patio, and secret speakeasy. Cafe Birdie is a sexy space with sexy food and beverage offerings to match. Beyond the perfectly curated wine list, the cocktail program is inventive to say the least. I ordered the troublemaker, a gin and grapefruit cocktail with a magical pink float of Peychaud’s bitters. The menu boasts seasonal salads, handmade pastas, tasty toasts, and Mediterranean inspired mains. I ordered every salad and veggie option as per usual. My hot lady date convinced me to order the black pepper tagiatelle with sunchoke purée, the best thing I’ve but in my mouth in many moons. We finished with a white strawberry cheesecake and a chocolate hazelnut torte, but shhhhhh don’t tell. I just saw that they’re now open for brunch, I guess my weekend is sorted.
