Salad dressing recipe for glowing healthy skin

June 17, 2019

There’s nothing I love more than a bed of greens drizzled with a fresh vinaigrette dressing. The only problem? Healthy salad dressings are hard to find. Not to mention expensive. I’m inspired to share my cost effective solution, a salad dressing recipe for glowing skin that is very near and dear to my heart. I’m sharing my Tutu’s famous French vinaigrette salad dressing recipe – free of inflammatory oils and preservatives, say oui oui to glowing skin this summer season.

Who the Heck is Tutu?

It seems like yesterday I was sitting on the kitchen counter as a little girl “helping” (more like sampling) my Tutu’s famous French dijon vinaigrette dressing. Tutu is my 99-year-old grandmother who taught me how to cook, her kitchen is where I fell in love with developing recipes for you loves.

Tutu, being of French descent, used to say that no French woman would ever buy salad dressing when they could make their own at home. After all, it’s simple to make, affordable, and delicious!

The Problem with Store-Bought Dressings

Store-bought dressings often contain extra sodium, sugars, preservatives, and inflammatory vegetable oils, which are terrible for your skin. Even though I love my Tutu’s dressing, there was an opportunity to make it more #eattoglow.

The original recipe used honey as a sweetener, which I swapped for liquid stevia. This plant-based sugar substitute contains no calories and has a low glycemic impact on skin, which helps reduce inflammation, as well as keep your hormones and blood sugar balanced.

I also replaced olive oil for avocado oil, which contains many health benefits for the skin. The amino acids, omega 3 fatty acids, and vitamin E found in avocado oil can help promote the production of collagen and cell renewal, ultimately keeping your skin youthful and plump.

Tutu’s Famous Dressing

I buy all of my ingredients from Thrive Market, the best value I’ve found for healthy groceries delivered to your door. All ingredients are linked:)

Ingredients:

1 cup avocado oil

3/4 cup red wine vinegar

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon dried tarragon

6 drops of liquid stevia

Generous pinch of salt and pepper

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a mason jar and shake well until combined

Add to a fancy bottle if you’re feeling extra French 😉 Link to my bottle

Store in the fridge for up to 4 months

Note: Avocado oil has a smoke point of 520°F, which means you can also use this dressing to marinate meat. Perfect for grilling on those summer nights!

There you have it, loves! I hope you enjoy my Tutu’s DIY salad dressing, and that it becomes a part of your family tradition too. If you make this dressing, please leave your review on this post. Also, don’t forget to post a photo to Instagram, tag me, and use the hashtag #eattoglow!
